Welcome to Professional Transit Management (PTM). Established in 1999 by Thomas Hock and Michael Setzer, PTM was created to offer an innovative approach to meeting the executive management and labor needs of the American transit industry.
PTM provides transit management services to 20 public transit systems in 15 states throughout the U.S. Our customer systems range in size from eight buses at Pass Transit Agency in Banning, CA to 445 vehicles at Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority in Cincinnati, OH. Through our diverse group of customer systems, PTM's responsibilities include:
- Managing the operation and maintenance of more than 1,800 vehicles
- Supervising over 4,100 employees
- Overseeing operating budgets that exceed $309 million
- Providing safe, reliable, efficient transportation for over 69 million riders annually.
What Differentiates PTM from Our Competitors?
-
PTM's exclusive focus is on managing transit systems. We are not the largest transit management firm, nor do we want to be. Our size fosters a greater commitment and stronger relationships with our customers.
-
PTM will earn your trust and keep our promises. We will not make a commitment we can't keep. Open, honest, regular communication is a critical component to PTM successfully partnering with our customer systems.
-
We are committed to high quality, customized management solutions. Our partnership with our customers includes a strategic plan that we create and implement together. PTM's senior management team is closely involved with each of our customer systems, including regular phone calls, emails and on-site visits.
Relationship with Veolia Transportation
In January 2008, PTM was acquired by Veolia Transportation and now functions as Veolia's transit management division. Veolia is the leading private provider of multi-modal passenger transportation services in North America, operating bus, rail, taxi, shuttle and paratransit systems in more than 130 locations in the U.S. and Canada.
As a result of the acquisition, PTM and our customer systems can take advantage of access to Veolia's wide variety of proven transportation resources, including programs to enhance operator development, supervisor training, sustainability and environmental awareness.
